Clements Worldwide shares insurance best practices during international liability roundtable event: “Managing International Liability and Duty of Care Risks.”
Advising global organizations about liability insurance coverage and requirements, Assistant Vice President of Programs and Special Risks, Smita Malik, was among several panelists during last week’s roundtable event. Representing expert perspectives from the insurance, legal, and security industries, all panel members agreed that proper planning and safety training are absolutely crucial to protecting workers overseas.
With employee safety a top-of-mind issue, the HR leaders and key decision-makers in attendance garnered valuable insight about duty of care, risk management, and risk mitigation. The lively discussion also addressed various universal liability challenges associated with operating overseas, such as employee vs. business risks, U.S. vs. local nationals, and short-term vs. long-term assignments.
During her presentation, Ms. Malik noted that liability cover is not only an important component of any robust compliance program, but also an important step in mitigating potential liability arising from covered employee losses. She also urged companies to consult with expert insurance providers regarding their coverage: “Since the global risk landscape is more volatile than ever, organizations should have insurance solutions specifically targeted to their needs.”
